A Multidimensional Review of Pimpinella anisum and Recommendation for Future Research to Face Adverse Climatic Conditions

Anise, or Pimpinella anisum, has a long history of usage in traditional and alternative medicine, as well the pharmaceutical sector. The species is native to Southwest Asia, Middle East, Mediterranean region. current studies have revealed that wild cultivated P. anisum are rich bioactive compounds, such phenols, tannins, carotenoids, fatty acids. Different parts plant used treatment diseases, pathogens for antiviral, antibacterial, antifungal purposes, cosmetics. In this paper, we reviewed knowledge on geographical distribution, cultivation, chemical extraction methods, agronomic medicinal uses anisum. Equally, suggested guidelines future research fill gap less investigated issues. Data paper was gathered via electronic literature search Google, Google Scholar, databases counting, Science Direct, Scopus, Springer, PubMed, Hindawi, from 1930 2022. Analyzed data show currently recorded Portugal Atlantic Ocean west China East. With new Ultrasound-Assisted Extraction, scientists explored higher quantities polyphenols, flavonoids, antioxidants, constituents trans-anethole estragole found essential oil fruits by gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC–MS). These compounds showed significant therapeutic benefits against pathogens, cosmetic roles. However, with impacts climate change natural vegetation cover, more investigations needed understand how these affect metabolic aspects, properties increase value ensure its conservation.
